This unit will give learners a broad understanding of copyright, collection societies and contract agreements related to the field of sound production. Learners will have the opportunity to create a budget for a small sound production project. Learners will use a spreadsheet application to manage the administration of basic financial information for a sound production related project and develop resources in preparation for employment and an interview. This unit is designed for learners studying HN Sound Production and is also available as a stand-alone unit.

In Sound Reinforcement you will have the opportunity to learn about the components of sound reinforcement systems and develop practical skills in the safe connection and operation of simple sound reinforcement systems, ie Public Address (PA) systems. This is essentially a practical unit in which you will be required to connect and operate a simple sound reinforcement system for a small-scale event.
This unit is designed to introduce you to the route that sound travels from a performer, through an audio system, to a listener. You will have an opportunity to examine sound at each stage of the signal path, namely as it exists as acoustic energy, is then converted into electrical form (both digital and analogue) and then back to acoustic form. In addition, you will consider the effect that human hearing has on the perception of sound.
You will be given the opportunity to learn about basic acoustic and electrical sound transmission, and will have the opportunity to put theory into practice and acquire practical skills in connecting and testing typical small scale audio systems.

The purpose of this unit is give learners the opportunity to study the process of music video
production by undertaking a music video project. Learners will first research music video
conventions relating to different genres of music before contributing creatively to the concept
of a music video. Finally, learners will participate in the production and post-production of a
music video and evaluate the success of the product. This unit would be relevant to learners
who intend to enter the music business in any role and for musicians wishing to gain insight
into the specific process of producing music videos.

In producing the mix, learners will be able to enhance mixing skillsacquired inother units through the use oftechnical and creative processes. The learnerwill then seekand act upon client feedback to produce a mix revision before presenting the final mix. This unit is intended for learners who wish to developthe knowledge and skills required toeffectively produce a mix where client interaction is a key component in the creative process.
This unit is intended to give you a broad understanding of sound production processes. You
will examine the terminology and requirements for staging a live performance before going
on to study the requirements for studio recording and post production. The unit is intended
for learners who have limited knowledge of sound production processes and intend to work
in the music industry, especially as an artist manager, promoter, or a musician who carries
out these roles on their own behalf. Throughout this unit, you will learn how to use common
terminology which will enable you to communicate effectively in live, studio, and mastering
environments
