This Unit is designed to enable learners to correctly install and configure system and application software on a computer system. The Unit will provide learners with information about the range of system software, such as operating systems, the wide variety and classification of application software, such as word processors and the methods of obtaining software and the legal issues involved. The Unit will give learners practical experience in installing system and application software within legal constraints. The contents of the Unit include planning and preparation for software installation, identification and understanding of manufacturer system requirements, software installation and maintenance of software installations. The practical tasks in this unit may also be credited towards other DMC units including F1KD 11 - Troubleshoot & Secure IT Systems.
