Course Overview

This Unit has been designed to enable learners to develop complex word processing skills and use web applications to create, share and work collaboratively on documents. Learners will gain practical experience in the use of the complex features of web and desktop word processing applications. The learners will be able to use complex word processing application features to format and present documents for a given brief. They will also gain skills in using the collaborative and cloud features of contemporary word processing packages. The Unit has a particular emphasis on using web applications, although this is not exclusive and desktop apps can be used as long as learners can collaborate on documents within a cloud based service.

NQ Networking & Cyber Security Level 6 (2023/24)

This unit will allow learners to work collaboratively within a group to plan, design, implement, test and evaluate a computing project. Learners will be required to produce a project in response to a project brief that can be formulated by negotiation between learners and their lecturer. The project should be completed by a project team working together, but with individual learners having defined areas of responsibility. The planning, design, implementation and testing stages should be carried out collaboratively; however each learner must complete an individual evaluation of the project as a whole from inception to completion.

NQ Networking & Cyber Security Level 6 (2023/24)

Learners will gain experience designing and creating applications using Visual Basic. Learners will also develop their programming, problem solving and computational thinking skills, as well as a knowledge and understanding of design concepts. Learner's understanding of the different methodologies and approaches for testing and evaluation will be included when applications are tested and they critically evaluate the process, their application and their own performance.

NQ Networking & Cyber Security Level 6 (2023/24)

This Unit introduces learners to the theory of modern computer networks. Learners are introduced to the basic concepts of computer networking such as the different types of networks, network devices and network media. The Unit also covers the theory which underpins the way data is transferred over a computer network and the use of the network protocols and network utilities in that data transfer. Assessment for this unit is a single multiple choice test which will be offered to learners at the end of the course.

Unit purpose This unit is designed to develop the learners’ knowledge of law as it applies to the music industry and to develop skills in evaluating the impact of contemporary issues on copyright and contracts. The unit will examine issues relating to music copyright, trademark and the collection societies before evaluating the impact of a current issue on music copyright. Learners will then go on to examine a music industry agreement and evaluate the impact of the agreement on the parties to the deal. The unit is intended to give HN Music Business, HN Music and HN Sound Production learners the opportunity to explore issues that have shaped contemporary practice relating to copyright law and music business contracts. Outcomes On successful completion of the unit the learner will be able to: 1 Explain law relating to music copyright and trademark and evaluate benefits of collection societies. 2 Explain a contemporary issue and evaluate the impact on music industry copyright. 3 Explain and evaluate a contemporary music industry agreement.
