Completion requirements

The overall aim of the graded unit assessment is to provide learners with the opportunity to undertake a project based on a real client with specific health, fitness and exercise needs.

Some learners may select a client with specific sports performance based aims while another may opt for a non-exerciser with specific health and fitness aims.

In undertaking this project, the learner will be required to negotiate access to a client and secure informed consent to conduct the case study. The learner should select a client who would be interested in completing a 12-week practical exercise training programme.

  • The learner should make the client aware of this as successful completion of the case study may demand continued access to the client throughout the remainder of the academic term.

  • The learner should ‘research’ several potential clients to determine which of them will be suitable and physically able to complete the 12-week intervention. Also, by obtaining more than one client, in the event of client withdrawal then there is the possibility of continuing with second (contingency) client.
